About Volunteering

Volunteers invested a collective 12,000 hours in the Soup Kitchen in the past 12 months. Nosotros would similar to thank each and every one for their hard work and commitment.

Volunteers have been involved with the Soup Kitchen since its inception, and continue to provide hands-on assistance to all aspects of the Kitchen.

Regular Volunteering: weekly, fortnightly & monthly

The bulk of our volunteers help out in the dining room at the Soup Kitchen serving meals. Mostly volunteers are rostered on one time a fortnight or one time a calendar month. Please note that volunteers helping in the Dining Room need to be 15 years or older.

Breakfast
Two volunteers help in the Soup Kitchen each forenoon from 7.20–eight.30am, Mon–Sabbatum to serve soup, bread, tea, java, fruit and milo.

Dinner
Betwixt five and 7 volunteers work as a squad with Soup Kitchen staff to help serve dinner to our guests and aid in the kitchen 4.20–6pm, Monday–Saturday. Every effort has been fabricated to make the dining room a warm, inviting and comfortable. Volunteers play a significant role in creating this environs through the friendly service they provide to our guests.

Soup Hub
A pocket-sized computer suite for Soup Kitchen community employ operates on weekday afternoons. Volunteers offer assistance with basic It skills, and assistance supervise the Hub. The Hub is open up on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 12.30–4pm.

Bread Collection
A volunteer collects and transports breadstuff donated by Wellington City New World to the Kitchen using their own vehicle (7am, Monday–Sat). Volunteers commit to one day a week.

Almanac Street Entreatment
Our biggest fundraiser for the yr, this one mean solar day requires upwards to 250 volunteers to aid coordinate sites and collect from members of the public. This is a great opportunity for schools, community groups and workplaces to volunteer. If y'all would similar to aid, please contact us.

Nutrient Day Appeal & o ne off events and activities
Volunteers help with a range of one-off events, such as our twice-yearly Food Twenty-four hours Appeals at Island Bay New World, our annual Open Day, 1-off food collections and fundraising dinners.

Workplace Volunteering
While can be quite difficult for u.s.a. to find meaningful work for a large squad on a specific day, especially in our Kitchen. Exercise please make it bear upon with us if you are looking for a team volunteering opportunity – we'll have a chat about your ideas and talents, and which projects we currently take underway.

We take individuals from workplaces volunteering with us doing everything from collecting in our Annual Street Entreatment, running a workplace nutrient drove, hosting a bake sale or supporting a fundraising action.
